Ten individuals sentenced of online harassment directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced allegations of spreading untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to making malicious remarks about the husband and wife's significant age difference.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A longstanding conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their lawsuit alleges that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she worked as an educator at his high school.

The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
